The theme for this year was ‘Tapena sou ōso mo lau malaga’ which in English means ‘Prepare yourself a gift for your travels’. This week Tamaki primary has been celebrating the samoan language week. All classes have been learning about the Arts, music, language and Dance from Samoa. Miss Josephine Bartley was our chief guest for the assembly and sent us a lovely message of keeping our culture and language alive. Our special Thanks to Mrs. Grady who has been helping us learn about Samoan culture and Language.
A friendly reminder that this term finishes on the 3rd of July. We have had a steady increas of students returning to school and most of our classess are around 70 percent full. I want to assure our parents that school is safe to return to as we have strict cleaning and hygiene procedures in place. For those caregivers/parents who would like to review our health and safety procedures please visit – https://www.tamakiprimary.school.nz/covid-19-updates/
I would also like to inform our parents and wider community that, I have resigned from Tamaki Primary school to take up a position as principal of Wesley Primary School, in Mt Roskill. This position will start on 20 July 2020. I have through enjoyed my time at Tamaki Primary and would like acknowledge the hard work of our staff, board and students during COVID19. I have learned alot what it means to really have whanaungatanga with our teaching, admin and property teams as we have gone through a major crisis together. It has been an honour to serve you all, as acting principal. Mrs Sharma will continue in her role as acting principal until the role is formally appointed.
We also farewelled our Quick60 Reading programme teacher Mrs Glenda Simkins, who runs an awesome programme for helping promote reading to our juniors every Monday to Thursday. Thank you Mrs Simkins for your hard work and aroha for our learners. We wish you all the best in your move up north.
Lastly, since schools and businesses are allowed to have up to 100 visitors onsite at a time we will be allowing whanau into our carpark again and please exist through the Bengazhi gate. We will however continue to ask parents to sign in if they are coming into the school building for contact tracing purposes.
As always if you have any questions, compliments or complaints please contact me on 0800 527634 or email email@example.com
