Vasega Gagana Samoa | Samoa Bilingual Class

Tāmaki Primary School opened a Year 3-6 bilingual Samoa language class on 30 January 2025. The class teacher is Mrs Mile Afoa-Leiataua, an experienced teacher with a career that has spanned education in both Samoa and New Zealand settings. Mrs Afoa-Leiataua is supported by learning assistant Andrew Tia, who has trained in the Pasifika Teacher Aides Project with Va’atele Consultants led by Dr Rae Si’ilata. 

The priorities of this class include:

• Samoa language and culture
• excellence in attendendance (no more than 4 days of absence per term)
• high levels of achievement in relation to Te Mātaiaho
• high levels of parent engagement in learning partnerships

Enrolment in this special character class is by interview with the tumuaki, Carol Leota. We accept learners from out of zone for this special character class.
